Production of Iran’s petrochemical plants to reach 1.7 M barrels

Production of Iran’s petrochemical plants will reach 1.7 million barrels of per day by 2025, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Industrial Company Behzad Mohammadi said.

Mohammadi made the remarks in Iran at the 13th International Exhibition of IranPlast, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

He said that the petrochemical plants’ fuel volume has reached 33 million tons per year, which requires utilizing 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Mohammadi added that the fuel volume of Iran’s petrochemical industry in 2021 will be 62 million tons per year, and this will require utilizing 1.4 million barrels of crude oil per day.

He noted the industry currently employs 108,000 people.

Mohammadi added that 22.5 million tons, which is more than 70 percent of the products manufactured by the petrochemical industry, are exported.

He noted that the company supplies about five million tons of fuel to downstream industry facilities.
