Solar energy capacity in Kazakhstan's Karaganda to be expanded

Construction of fourth solar energy plant in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region has started near the Zhezqazghan city, Trend reports with reference to regional akimat (administrative office).

So far, 5,200 solar panels out of 29,300 have been installed. The plant's capacity will be 10 MW.

Construction work is to be finished before the end of 2019. Launch of the plant is planned for December 22.

Currently there are three parks operating in Karaganda region. Total capacity of these plants is 190 MW.

As stated by the akimat, volume of energy produced via region’s renewable energy sources amounted to 147.1 million kWh since the beginning of the year. Energy production via renewable energy source will be 190 million kWh by the end of 2019.

“Launch of the renewable energy plants allowed to attract nearly 94 billion tenge of investments into the region’s economy (approximately $241.2 million) and to create 58 new work places,” the report said.
