Deputy minister: Investors can export electricity from Iran

Investors can sell the electricity they produce from renewable energy sources and transfer to Iran’s power grid, to customers of the neighboring countries, Iranian Deputy Energy Minister and Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Mohammad Sadeqzade said, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Sadeqzade noted that the Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian gave corresponding instructions in this regard.

The deputy energy minister said that so far, five or six appeals have been received from both foreign and local investors.

Sadeqzade added that investors have been provided with all conditions for the construction of wind turbine and solar panel plants in Iran.

The deputy minister noted that there is possibility for construction of at least 30,000 megawatt wind turbine and solar panel plants in Iran for electricity generation and export.

“To date, applications have been received for the construction of 1,500 megawatt power plants,” Sadeqzade said.

According to the Iranian Energy Ministry, about 4.3 billion kilowatt hours of electricity was generated from renewable energy sources in Iran by October 22. Presently, renewable energy plants with capacity of 377 megawatts are being built in Iran.

Electricity production of the installed power plants is 834 megawatts. So far, 3,558 small-scale solar panel plants have been installed in Iran, and 2,350 plants are being installed. The value of private investments in this area is 124 trillion rials (about $2.9 billion).
