Azerbaijan reveals statistics on electricity generation

Power plants in Azerbaijan generated 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January 2020, which is 1.4 percent less compared to January 2019, Trend reports referring to the country's State Statistics Committee.

The committee's report says that 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January 2020 accounted for commercial consumption, which is 0.6 percent more compared to January 2019.

Of the total commercial electricity generated in January 2020, two billion kilowatt-hours accounted for thermal power plants (TPPs), which is 5 percent more compared to January 2019.

Azerbaijan’s hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) generated 0.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the reporting period (decline of 35.7 percent).

Some 7.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Azerbaijan during the reporting period by wind farms (decline of 0.6 times for the year) while 2.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated by solar power plants (decline of 8.3 percent).
