Iran's Maroon Oil and Gas Production Company implements new project

Phase 1 of the project on processing of sour gases has been commissioned at the industrial facility number 3 of Iran's Maroon Oil and Gas Production Company, said Mansour Torkaman Asadi, the head of technical affairs department at the company, Trend reports citing the company's website.

According to Asadi, with the launch of this phase, approximately 339,000 cubic meters (12 million cubic feet) of sour gas will be processed daily.

Asadi added that the processed gas will be sent to the petrochemical plants as fuel.

He pointed out that due to deposition of sulfur hydrogen in the Asmari Maroon oil field, so far, gas which extracted from several wells was burned.

Asadi said that according to the announcement by the Iranian Oil Ministry regarding the collection of flaring gases, National South Oil Company conducted a tender and assigned this work to a private Iranian company.

The second phase of the project will produce 84,900 cubic meters (3 million cubic feet) of sour gas per day by increasing the pressure and installing an electric compressor.

Maroon Oil and Gas Production Company is a part of the Iranian National South Oil Company.
The Asmari Maroon oil field is located in the southeast of Ahvaz district of Khuzestan province. The length of the field is 65 km and the width is 7 km. So far, 477 wells have been drilled in this field, oil is produced from about 285 wells. Daily production is approximately 350,000 barrels per day.
