Iran to commission well at Sivand field in Hormozgan Province

Drilling work has been completed on a well in the Sivand oil field that is located around Siri Island in Iran's Hormozgan Province, said Mehdi Heidar Bozorg, the Managing director of the Sivand and Esfand oil fields of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, Trend reports the company’s website.

"The well is being upgraded as well," Bozorg said.

He said the well in the Sivand oil field will be commissioned as part of a plan to protect and increase production.

Bozorg added that the well is expected to produce 1,600 barrels of crude oil per day.

The Sivand oil field of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company is located 43 km west of the Siri Island. A contract has been signed between the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and the PetroIran Development Company on the plan to protect and increase production at the Sivand and Esfand oil fields.

According to the contract, the completion of drilling in these two fields will increase oil production by 16,000 barrels per day.

It is planned to drill, repair and upgrade 12 wells in the Sivand and Esfand fields.

The Sivand oil field of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company produces about 11,000 barrels of oil per day, and the Esfand oil field produces 60,000 barrels per day.
