Iran upgrades power plant production in Semnan Province

A phase of the Shahid Bastami thermal power plant in the Shahrud county in Semnan Province (northern Iran) has been put into operation to upgrade the power plant's production by 21 megawatts, Trend reports referring to Ministry of Energy of Iran’s official website.

According to the report, the project to upgrade the electricity production of the gas section of Shahid Bastami TPP from 162 megawatts to 183 megawatts was implemented by the Iranian MAPNA Group.

“As many as 5.5 million euros were spent on the commissioning of this phase,” the report said.

“With the commissioning of this phase, 15 million liters of fuel will be saved per year,” the report added.

At the same time, with the commissioning of this phase, some 80,000 people will be provided with electricity.

Pooya Energy Company intends to upgrade the power generation capacity of 3 gas phases at the power plants in Semnan Province from the end of 7th month (September 22, 2020) with the permission of the Ministry of Energy of Iran, according to the report.

Shahid Bastami thermal power plant is located in Shahrud county of Semnan Province. The power plant has the potential to produce 484 megawatts of electricity a year. This power plant has 2 unit 162 megawatt gas phases and 1 unit 160 megawatt steam phase.
