The production of helium will ensure the industrial progress of Turkmenistan, and the country has sufficient reserves of natural gas, from which helium is extracted, Trend reports with reference to Nebit-Gas electronic newspaper.
If high volumes of the helium content at any gas field are discovered, then it is very promising for the development and production of helium, said the report.
As a priority step, it is possible to implement a project on comprehensive research of gas condensate fields, including gas production and processing alongside the creation of infrastructure for extracting, storing and supplying helium.
Local experts predict that by 2030, there will be a shortage of helium in the world, so the increase in helium production will have a positive impact on the economy of Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan has overfulfilled the plan of oil and gas condensate production from January through July 2020.
The plan of oil and gas condensate production was exceeded by 2.4 percent, natural and associated gas - by 1.6 percent, gas exports – by 0.4 percent, oil refining – by 3.7 percent, gasoline production – by 2.3 percent, and diesel fuel production – by 6.9 percent.
It was also decided to build new plants for processing raw materials, as well as modernize existing ones.
