Iran reveals amount of money spent on electricity sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3

About 400 trillion rials (about $9.52 billion) a year has been invested in the electricity sector during the rule of the current government in Iran (current government has been in power in Iran since August 2013), Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

He made the remark at the event dedicated for the commissioning of 5 water and electricity facilities.

The minister noted that an average of 2,500 megawatts of electricity is added to Iran's electricity generation potential every year.

Ardakanian added that 1,300 megawatts of electricity has been added to the potential from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date (September 3).

The minister said that 110 trillion rials (about $2.61 billion) has been invested only into electricity generation.

Ardakanian emphasized that the production capacity of Iran's solar panels has increased to 42.5 megawatts with the commissioning solar panels today.

"All solar panel stations were installed with the investments of private sector and purchasing of electricity by government with guaranteed,” he said.

Today (September 3), the second gas section of the Dalaho Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plant in Kermanshah Province, the Kalghan dam in East Azerbaijan Province and the electrical substation and 2 solar panel stations in Ardabil Province were put into operation in Iran.
