By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran consumed a total of about 105 billion cubic meters of gas during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21, 2020), Caretaker of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Shana news agency, Trend reports.

Joulaei noted that 39.6 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed in Iran's housing, commercial and small industrial facilities during the reporting period.

The official added Iran's large industrial facilities consumed 23.8 billion cubic meters of gas over six months.

Joulaei stressed that 41.3 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed at Iran's thermal power plants within the same period.

“In addition, 122 billion cubic meters of gas was transported through Iranian gas pipelines in six months. This is an increase of 5 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.

The official noted the gas consumption in Iran was 554 million cubic meters yesterday (September 22).

"The NIGC has taken a number of steps in the production, transportation, and distribution of gas, and there will be no problems with gas supply to homes in the cold season of this year," he said.
