Production of coal, gas in Uzbekistan down

Production of natural gas in Uzbekistan from January through September reduced to 36 billion cubic meters, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Coal production in the reporting period fell by 3 percent, amounting to 2.6 million tons.

On the contrary, oil production in the first nine months increased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to 553,400 tons.

According to preliminary data, in January through September 2020, enterprises of the Uzbekistan produced industrial products worth 256.7 trillion soums ($24.7 billion). The index of the physical volume of industrial production for the same period in 2019 amounted to 97.3 percent.

The largest share falls on manufacturing enterprises (82.6 percent) in the structure of production.

The main factors behind the decline in the physical volume of industrial production were its decrease in mining and quarrying enterprises - by 26.1 percent, in water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal - by 7.3 percent.

At the same time, there is an increase in production in the manufacturing industry by 2.7 percent, and an increase of 13.7 percent at power supply, gas, steam and air conditioning enterprises.

On October 21, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to increase the production of energy resources in the country. In particular, the production of oil and condensate by the end of the year should grow to 740,000 tons and the production of liquefied gas and polyethylene - by 203,000 tons and 125,000 tons, respectively.

It is expected that the additional gas produced will be supplied to the domestic market.
