BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Electricity exports from Georgia have declined, Trend reports via Georgia's Commercial Operator of the Electricity System (ESCO)
According to ESCO, 152 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported from Georgia in the first 9 months of 2020, which is 36 percent less than in the same period in 2019.
The main reasons for the decline in exports are a decrease in the local generation and a decrease in demand for electricity in neighboring countries.
The demand for electricity also decreased in Georgia.
According to official statistics, this year, the country consumed 8.95 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 615 million kilowatt-hours less compared to the same period in 2019.
