BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

If the exchange rate of the lari is stable against the dollar, a decrease in fuel prices in Georgia will surely begin, the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia told Trend.

"In recent days, world prices for oil products, according to S&P Global Platt's, have fallen sharply due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to rather strict restrictions in many EU countries," the union noted.

According to the union, in general, due to the pandemic in Georgia, economic growth is significantly slowing down, therefore, investments are reduced and, accordingly, significant development of companies.

"At the same time, the pandemic also had a direct impact on the sales of oil products in Georgia. Among them, the greatest damage was caused to the import of aviation fuel, as well as the import of petroleum bitumen," the source said.

The union also noted that sales of gasoline and diesel fuel decreased compared to the same period last year.
