Turkmenistan plans to export a significant part of the products manufactured at the largest gas chemical plant in Turkmenistan's Balkan region, located in the city of Garabogaz, Trend reports with reference to the state customs service of Turkmenistan.

The accelerated export of the plant's products is facilitated by a special berth, to which urea is fed by a conveyor.

The raw material for the enterprise is natural gas, which makes it promising to build new capacities for the production of nitrogen fertilizers, including urea.

The Garabogaz plant increased the revenues and export opportunities of the chemical industry of Turkmenistan.

The plant was put into operation and is designed for the annual production of 1.1 million tons of urea.

The chemical industry is one of the basic branches of the economy of Turkmenistan and was formed based on the need for intensification of agricultural production by creating enterprises for the production of mineral fertilizers.

The rate of production of urea manufactured at the Garabogazkarbamid plant in Turkmenistan’s Balkan region Turkmenistan has doubled. Thus, The plant produced about 900,000 tons of urea within ten months of this year.

The project to build a gas chemical complex worth $1.5 billion in the city of Garabogaz in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan was implemented by Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan) and Gap Inşaat (Turkey).

This complex is designed to produce 1.1 million tons of urea per year. The technology of the Danish Haldor Topsoe AS company, the US UOP company, the Italian Saipem company, and the Dutch Uhde Fertilizer Technology company were used in the project.

With the commissioning of the new facility, the annual volume of nitrogen fertilizers produced in the country exceeded two million tons. About one-third of these products are supplied to the domestic market, the rest is sent for export.
