Gas processing plant launched in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 28

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The commission of the investment project on construction of a propane-butane mixture production unit took place in the city of Gazli, Bukhara region, as well as the launch of technological facilities, such as a compressor station and the sixth stage of a gas purification unit from sulfur worth $185 million, Trend reports citing Uzbekneftegaz JSC.

The project was implemented in accordance with the decrees of the President of Uzbekistan on the production and consumption of oil, oil products, natural gas, and liquefied gas in the republic in 2017 and on the approval of the program for increasing the production of hydrocarbons for 2017-2021.

It was especially noted that the launch of these technological facilities is aimed at meeting the growing demand for oil and gas products in the domestic market of Uzbekistan, as well as supplying the produced liquefied gas to consumers in Bukhara, Khorezm, and the Karakalpakstan Republic.

During the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC Mehriddin Abdullayev stressed that in the direction of hydrocarbon production, natural gas production in 2020 will amount to 33.6 billion cubic meters (an increase of 0.3 percent), gas condensate – 1.4 million tons (compared to the plan - 99.4 percent), oil – 204,000 tons (an increase of 8.0 percent).

The investment project on construction of a plant for the production of a propane-butane mixture has a production capacity of up to 80,000 tons of a butane-butane mixture and 37,500 tons of condensate per year by processing 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

A gas-zeolite drying plant, a plant for obtaining a propane-butane mixture, tanks for receiving and storing liquefied gas, laboratory facilities were built within the framework of this project.

The construction was carried out by the Muborakneftgazmontazh enterprise, the technological equipment was supplied by Linde AG (Germany), Sumy NPO, Turbogaz (Ukraine), Hydromashservice, AZSTRASTSTROY, Pegas-Export (Russia), Amotec Technology OÜ ”(Estonia).

At the same time, Enter Engineering (Singapore) built and commissioned a new compressor station and the sixth stage of a sulfur purification unit within the framework of the Program for Increasing Hydrocarbon Production for 2017-2021.

The main activity of the Gazli oil and gas production department is the production of gas, gas condensate, and liquefied gas. In total, the oil and gas condensate fields have 244 gas production wells, two compressor stations, and six primary and comprehensive gas treatment units.

Gas and gas condensate produced from its main fields are sent via 18 intercontinental gas pipelines to the Gazli gas processing plant, and liquid hydrocarbons are transported to the Amirabad oil depot.

Taking into account the commissioning of new technological equipment and an increase in production capacity, the Uchkir complex for gas purification from sulfur, which is part of the Gazli oil and gas production department, was reorganized into the Gazli gas processing plant.

It was noted that in 2006 the enterprise was transformed into the Gazli oil and gas production department, which is engaged in gas production at such fields as Doyakhotin, Kulbeshkak, Khozhikazgan, Toshkuduk, Kaltakir, Garbi, and Uchkir.

In 2012-2020, gas fields such as Kumli, Tailak, Khakkul, Koshkam, Yorkin, Garbiy Khakul, Mirkomilkuduk, Savatli, Chakkakum, South Kulbeshkak, Andakly, Tumaris, Shurkum, and Shortak were commissioned, which led to an increase in natural gas production by five billion cubic meters per year and gas condensate by 45,000 tons.
