Currently, electricity from Tajikistan is supplied only to Afghanistan, while supplies to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have been suspended, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Jumayev said, Trend reports citing Tajik media.
He also added that due to the reduction of water flow in all rivers in Tajikistan last year, Tajik government introduced export restrictions in the summer in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the population of the country in autumn and winter.
“At present, minimal current flows through the power lines from Tajikistan to neighboring countries. This is necessary to keep the transmission lines connected,” he said.
In addition, the representative of Barqi Tojik, national integrated power company of Tajikistan, said that although the power lines to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are connected according to the so-called “dead-end” method, electricity is not exported to either Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan.
Uzbekistan increased electricity generation in 2020 by 2.98 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the country's enterprises generated about 64.63 billion kWh of electricity for the reporting period.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan produced about 27.7 million Gcal of heat from January through November 2020, which is 12.25 percent more compared to 2019.
