Iran's Eslamabad e-Gharb petrochemical plant to be built at expense of domestic production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 7

The potential of domestic production will be used to the maximum in the construction of a polypropylene plant in the Eslamabad e-Gharb County of Kermanshah Province (western Iran), Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

He made the remark i at a ceremony held in connection with the laying of foundation of the plant.

The minister emphasized that the production of polypropylene from natural gas is a very important step. This plan is one of Iran's national plans.

Zanganeh added that the plant will be built at the initiative and investment of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran (NPC). More than $500 million will be invested in the construction of the plant, which is expected to be completed on the certain schedule.

According to him, when the plant is launched 3 years later and generates revenues, its shares will be sold to citizens and managed by citizens.

As reported, the foundation of Eslamabad e-Gharb plant was laid today on Feb. 6. The plant will be built on 54 hectares of land with an investment of $545 million.

The plant will be supplied with fuel through the Asaluyeh gas pipeline and the Ilam Gas Refinery in Iran's Bushehr Province (southern Iran). Daily 2.1 million cubic meters of natural gas will be transported to the plant.

The production manufactured at this plant will bring in $220 million worth of revenues a year.
