Gas extracted from Iran's Forouzan field transported to Kharg Petrochemical Company

The gas extracted jointly with oil from Iran- Saudi Arabia joint Forouzan oil field (called Marjan in Saudi Arabia) is transported to Iran's Kharg Petrochemical Company, said Abbas Rajabkhani, manager of the Kharg oil and gas operational center, Trend reports.

Rajabkhani noted that it was planned to transport daily 40 million cubic feet (about 1.13 million cubic meters) of gas in the first stage. However, currently, 80 million cubic feet (about 2.26 million cubic meters) of gas can be transported daily.

He added that annually $53 million worth of revenues will be achieved with the transportation of this amount of gas. The company has earned $40 million from gas transportation over the past year.

The manager said that 17 billion cubic feet (about 481 million cubic meters) of gas extracted jointly with oil from the Forouzan field was transported to the Kharg Petrochemical Company over the past year.

The Forouzan oil field is located in the Persian Gulf, 100 km southeast of Kharg Island in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran). This oil field was discovered in 1966.

As reported, the field contains about 2.3 billion barrels of oil. Iran extracts about 40,000 barrels of oil daily from the field at present.
