The alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated about 5.82 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first 11 months of the current year (from March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), Trend reports citing the report of the Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization.

According to report, while in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 20 through February 18, 2021), the alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran generated 86 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

“As a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran for 11 months, 1.65 billion cubic meters of gas were saved in the consumption of fossil fuels. While in the 11th month, Iran has saved 24 million cubic meters of gas,” the report said.

In addition, 1.28 billion liters of water were saved in Iran as a result of the operation of the alternative renewable energy power plants within 11 months. However, this figure was 19 million liters in the 11th month, the report said.

According to the report, with the operation of these power plants in Iran, the spread of 3.89 million tons of CO2 gas were prevented over the 11 months. This figure was 55,000 tons in the 11th month.

“Over the 11th month, the solar panel stations generated 439-megawatt hours of electricity, wind turbines – 305-megawatt-hours, small hydropower plants – 105 megawatt-hours, waste heat recovery stations – 13.6-megawatt hours, and biomass stations - 10.5 megawatt-hours. And these stations accounted for 50, 35, 12, 2, 1 percent of the total generation volume, respectively,” the report said.
