S.Korean oil company holding exploration on land plots in Uzbekistan

KNOC Fergana Operating Company carries out exploration work in the Dehkanabad and Tashkurgan investment blocks of the South-West Gissar region of Uzbekistan on the basis of an agreement with Uzbekneftegaz JSC, Trend reports citing Uzbekneftegaz JSC.

According to Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the old seismic data in the amount of 1,036 linear kilometers was reformatted within the framework of the project and the old seismic data in the volume of 802 linear kilometers was reprocessed.

Also, additional geological study and interpretation of space images of the territory of the Dekhkanabad and Tashkurgan investment blocks and adjacent areas were completed, and 2D seismic exploration was carried out in the amount of 506 linear kilometers.

In addition, work was completed on processing new seismic data in the amount of 506 linear kilometers, as well as quality control over the work on processing seismic data.

At the same time, work on the interpretation of new seismic data, basin modeling, resource assessment of identified structures, assessment of geological risks and preparation of recommendations for further exploration work within the investment blocks are at the stage of completion.

Currently, investors are conducting analytical work on five promising structures and considering the feasibility of the next stage.

KNOC Fergana Operating Company is an Uzbekistan subsidiary of the world's largest oil company – Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC). The company is implementing the project in oil and gas exploration in Uzbekistan.
