By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

The first stage of the Turkmen section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line is planned to be completed by August 2021, Trend reports, citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

In addition to the power lines, the installation of the Akhal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz ring power system and related substations is currently underway in Turkmenistan.

The high-voltage power transmission line along Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TAP) route project is being implemented on the basis of an agreement signed by the Turkmen Energy Ministry with a subsidiary Calik Holding A.S. (Turkey) - TAPP-500 Power Transmission Line FZE company.

The construction of power lines will run from the Mary power plant to the Afghan city of Herat.

The Mary State power Plant plays an important role in the Turkmenistan’s power industry. A gas turbine station with a capacity of 146.7 megawatts was built in the industrial zone of the Mary State Power Plant in 2016.

A combined cycle electric generating plant was built in 2018. Its power is equal to 1,574 megawatts. The combined cycle electric generating plant made 70 percent of the total electricity for 2019, which was 8.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
