Former Iranian Oil Minister talks potential oil sales

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 23

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The crude oil always has a customer, and therefore it will be sold constantly, the Former Iranian Oil Minister Mohammad Gharazi told ILNA, Trend reports.

According to Gharazi, the world demand for crude oil was daily 60 million barrels in the 1980s. At that time, despite sanctions and war, Iran sold 2-2.5 million barrels of crude oil per day.

Gharazi added that at present, the daily demand for crude oil is 90-100 million barrels. It is true that Iran's crude oil sales in the 1980s cannot be compared to today. However, Iran can sell its oil in various ways. In this regard, there will be no significant difference in the sale of Iranian crude oil. Nevertheless, the customer's situation must be taken into account in the current period. Because the customer does not want to lose, but to win.

The ex-minister noted that all international problems are to be solved. Iran has large oil and gas reserves in the world. Accordingly, the need for this energy is greater today, and there are customers of Iran's oil from both near and far countries.

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies, and individuals.
