Iran to launch renewable energy power plants

Iran plans to launch alternative renewable energy power plants that can generate about 245 megawatt-hours of electricity in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Spokesman for Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi told Trend.

According to him, alternative renewable energy power plants that can generate about 145 megawatt-hours of electricity will be launched in Iran by the end of the current Iranian government (August 6, 2021).

Sigaroudi added that thus, the electricity generation capacity of alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran will exceed 1,000 megawatt-hours.

The spokesman emphasized that it is planned to be put into operation other power plants that can generate 100 megawatt-hours of electricity by the end of the current Iranian year.

Reportedly, about 5.91 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in alternative renewable power plants in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).

At present, the capacity of Iran's alternative renewable energy power plants is 875 megawatt-hours.
