By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A contract has been signed for the construction of the first methylamine plant in Iran, Managing Director of Negin Sonqor Chemical Industries Company Navid Shahidinia said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to him, an EPC (Engineering, procurement, and construction) contract has been signed between Iran's Negin Sonqor Chemical Industries Company, Bam Dej Tarh Consulting Engineers Company, and Petro Nirou Saba Company for the construction of a methylamine plant.

The director added that the plant will be built with an investment of $58 million. The plant will produce 22,600 tons of mono-methylamine, tri-methylamine and di-methylamine products per year.

Shahidinia noted that the plant's fuel will be ammonia and methanol, and will be supplied by companies operating under the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC).

“The construction of this plant will be a small step in the production of methylamine products in Iran. At present, Iran's consumption of methylamine and its products is provided by imports,” he said.

Iran's Negin Sonqor Chemical Industries Company is a subsidiary of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC). The company is located on 4 hectares in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran).
