Azerbaijan is the largest supplier of petroleum bitumen to Georgia, Trend reports referring to the Union of Importers of Petroleum Products of Georgia.
According to the data, in April 2021, imports of petroleum bitumen to Georgia amounted to 7,800 tons, which is 2,800 tons or 56 percent more than in March 2021.
Of these, 93.6 percent (7,300 tons) of imports accounted for Azerbaijan, 6.4 percent (500 tons) - for Turkmenistan.
From January to April 2021, imports of petroleum bitumen to Georgia amounted to 18,100 tons, which is 300 tons or 1.7 percent higher than the same indicator of the previous year.
Of these, 88.4 percent (16,000 tons) of imports falls on Azerbaijan, 6 percent (1,100 tons) - on Iraq; 2.8 percent (500 tons) - for Turkmenistan, 2.8 percent (500 tons) - for Russia.
"As statistics show, imports of petroleum bitumen to Georgia this year have grown and, in our opinion, will keep this trend in the coming months. It should also be noted that the main supplier of petroleum bitumen to our country has become the Republic of Azerbaijan, which replaced the Islamic Republic of Iran," the report says.
