Security of joint borders between Azerbaijan-Iran created additional opportunities for dev't of relations

The security of the joint borders between Azerbaijan and Iran has created additional opportunities for the development of bilateral relations, Azerbaijani Energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov said, Trend reports Mehr News Agency.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Araz and Mil-Mughan hydro junctions.

According to Shahbazov, the Araz and Mil-Mughan hydro junction are not only a source of water and energy but also an indicator of the history of the development of sustainable friendship.

The minister added that Azerbaijan and Iran have turned their joint borders into a guarantor of bilateral cooperation and peace during the years of using the Araz River. The Araz hydro junction supplies water to a total of 400,000 hectares of agricultural land in the two countries.

“The cooperation between the two countries has already entered a new stage. Work on the Giz Galasi water reservoir is nearing completion through bilateral efforts. Mutual relations are a clear example of mutual trust,” he noted.

As reported, today on May 31, an event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Araz and Mil-Mughan hydro junctions, and start water pumping to the Giz Galasi water reservoir was held with the participation of Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, ambassadors of the two countries and some high-ranking officials of the two countries.
