Russian companies supervise projects for hydropower plant construction in Uzbekistan

Russian companies are actively cooperating and supervising a number of projects in the electric power industry, in particular, for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

On June 3, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov discussed energy cooperation with the Minister of Energy of Russia Nikolai Shulginov.

During the meeting, the heads of energy departments touched upon the development of interaction in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as the course of current and prospects for future energy projects of Russian companies in Uzbekistan.

Shulginov noted that active work is underway between Russian and Uzbek companies in the gas, oil and power sectors.

“Our companies, Gazprom and its subsidiaries, LUKOIL have been successfully cooperating for many years in the development of oil and gas fields in Uzbekistan, and cross-border energy supplies are growing,” Shulginov said.

In addition, the head of the Russian Ministry of Energy stressed that Russian companies are actively cooperating, supervising a number of projects in the field of electricity, in particular, for the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan.

“Last year, within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission, a Sub-Commission on Energy was created. Her work is aimed at strengthening cooperation between Russian and Uzbek enterprises,” the Russian minister said.

In turn, Uzbek energy minister said that on the basis of cooperation with Russia, a large-scale program is being implemented to increase the production of hydrocarbon raw materials, in which VEB.RF and Gazprombank JSC are directly involved from the Russian side.

“With the support of the Russian company IKS Holding, the Concept of Digitalization of the Energy Industry is being developed and will be implemented. Gazprombank provides significant support in financing investment projects in the oil and gas industry. Alisher Sultanov noted that Zarubezhneft, JSC FORUS, Tatneft and other authoritative Russian companies make their contribution to our energy cooperation,” Sultanov said.
