Turkish company to build gas piston power plant in Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region

Turkish Hidro Enerji Elektrik Uretim Sanayi (Hydro Energy Electricity Production Industry) will build a new gas piston power plant in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

According to the information, the capacity of the new generating facility will be 174 MW. Odas Enerji SA has already been established to implement the project.

It is noted that the Turkish company undertook the design, financing, construction, and operation of the facility for 25 years, and the Uzbek side - the obligation to guarantee the purchase of electricity all this time.

It is reported that the total volume of foreign investments within the project is estimated at $105 million.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan intends to commission eight new power plants by the end of this year.

Thus, in October, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 megawatts will be put into operation in the Tashkent region, a gas piston power plant with a capacity of 174 megawatts in the Khorezm region, and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts (514 megawatts in total) in Navoi region.

In December, two thermal power plants with a total capacity of 470 megawatts will be commissioned in the Tashkent region, a power plant with a capacity of 270 megawatts in Bukhara, and a capacity of 220 megawatts in Kashkadarya.

Also, it is planned to commission a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts (total of 1,060 megawatts) in the Samarkand region, by the end of the year.
