A forum on the development of local workforce share at the Karachaganak field in Kazakhstan took place online, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the press service, head of the ministry, Nurlan Nogayev, speaking at the forum, noted that to date Kazakhstan has been conducting productive and targeted work on increasing the share of local workforce in several leading oil and gas projects.
Nogayev said that Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) successfully completed a project to remove production restrictions on gas, and is nearing to complete a project of building a four-compressor gas return pump.
“The main requirement of the state is the rational use of subsoil resources and ensuring the extraction of useful fossils with minimal impact on the environment. This task is put before the government by the national leader [Nursultan Nazarbayev] and president of Kazakhstan [Kassym-Jomart Tokayev],” he stressed.
However, despite the work carried out, the minister expressed concern about the low indicators of Kazakh content in the purchase of oil and gas equipment and spare parts for large operators.
This year, at the ministry’s initiative, an international center for the development of oil and gas machinery was opened in Kazakhstan, which will provide significant support for the local production of oil and gas equipment.
“The center will give a new positive impulse to the work on the increase local workforce. This is one of the strategic directions and priority tasks in the work of our ministry,” concluded Nogayev.
The forum was also attended by Gali Iskaliyev, head of West Kazakhstan region, Giancarlo Ruiu, director general of KPO, representatives of business, industry associations, and others.
