The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey hasn’t extended the license of the Derkim Poliuretan, Aladdin Middle East LTD, UKOG Turkey LTD energy companies for exploration of oil and gas deposits in Siirt, Sirnak and Mardin provinces, Trend reports on Aug.11 citing the ministry.

According to the ministry, on November 13, 2020, the companies applied to the ministry to extend the licenses.

“The companies' applications were rejected in accordance with the seventh article of the Turkish Oil Law and the ninth and tenth articles of the document regulating the application of this law,” the ministry said.

In April 2014, a law came into force in Turkey, allowing exploration for oil in forests and national parks.
