As a result of the geological exploration work carried out in Uzbekistan’s Kashakadarya region, 2 gas condensate fields were discovered (the Izhobat and Razzokbobo fields), Trend reports with reference to Uzbekneftegaz.

In order to implement the instructions of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirzoyoyev work began on the territory of the Kashkadarya region in 2021 to start drilling 10 new fields, to complete the construction of 10 prospecting and exploration wells, to carry out drilling operations in the amount of 55.700 meters, to build up reserves of natural gas in the amount of 11 billion cubic meters and liquid hydrocarbons in the amount of 220,000 tons.

To date, within the framework of the program on the territory of the Kashkadarya region: eight new fields were commissioned for exploratory drilling (Izhobat, Butalabulok, Niez, Ettikuduk, Istikbol, Kuyi Pomuk, Oydin, Chorbog); construction of 3 wells were completed (Telegri-1, Izhobat-1, Chorbog-1); exploration drilling was performed in the amount of 32,000 meters; trial operations are underway at 3 wells (Izhobat-2, Butalabulok-1, Shodlik-1).

At the same time, a number of measures are being taken to identify hydrocarbon deposits in the lower layers of large fields located in the region.

In particular, in order to assess the prospects for the oil and gas potential of terrigenous deposits of the Jurassic period on the territory of the Shurtan field and adjacent fields, it is planned to carry out 3D seismic exploration in the amount of 620 sq. km in 2021.

During January-July 2021, Uzbekneftegaz JSC jointly with Uzbekgeofizika JSC, carried out 3D seismic surveys in the amount of 250 sq. km at the Shurtan field with the involvement of modern advanced 3D seismic systems with 900,000 channels.

Based on the discussion of Uzbekgeofizika JSC and Uzbekneftegaz JSC, tasks were identified to accelerate the ongoing 3D seismic works Shurtan and Uchkir and develop recommendations for installing new wells based on the data obtained to date, as well as on the basis of re-analysis of the data earlier carried out 2D seismic works on the Zevarda and South Kemachi fields, to study the promising terrigenous layers of the Jurassic period of these fields.
