Gas consumption in Iran continues to grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 30

Gas consumption in the household sector of Iran is expected to reach 600 million cubic meters daily in the coming weeks, Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to him, Iran consumed more than 750 million cubic meters of gas daily over the past two weeks, of which 505 million cubic meters were consumed in the household sector.

Joulaei added that more than 160 million cubic meters of gas daily are currently supplied to thermal power plants in Iran.

The manager also pointed out 23 million cubic meters of gas daily were supplied to the Iran’s gas network from the country’s gas storage facilities (Shourijeh and Sarajeh).

Reportedly, Iran currently produces 800 million cubic meters of gas per day.

As reported, over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Iran extracted an average of 879 million cubic meters of gas daily, consumed 701 million cubic meters and exported 46.3 million cubic meters.
