BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Brazil was the major export destination of carbamide produced by the carbamide plant of Azerbaijan’s state company SOCAR, the plant's director Khayal Jafarov said, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.
Moreover, the plant exported around 32,000-35,000 tons of carbamide to Russia, Turkey and Romania each, he said, adding that Italy, Bulgaria and Albania also were among the export markets.
Jafarov noted that the plant’s monthly production stands at 60,000 tons.
“Carbamide, which contains 46 percent of nitrogen, has allowed to increase land productivity by up to 4 times in Azerbaijan. It is an environmentally friendly fertilizer and can be exported to long distances,” he added.
The groundbreaking ceremony of SOCAR’s carbamide plant was held in 2011. İt was designed and constructed by South Korea’s Samsung Engineering. The plant, which was commissioned in January 2019, is capable of producing 2,000 tons of carbamide per day and 660,000 tons per year. It occupies an area of 40 hectares in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park and has ammonia production, carbamide production units and auxiliary facilities.
