BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. The Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) will resume gas extraction from the Iran-United Arab Emirates joint Salman oil field (called Abu Al Bukhoosh in the UAE) within the next month, an official of the IOOC, Amir Salari said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official stressed that gas extracted from the Salman oil field is transported to Siri Island via a 30-inch pipeline. On November 17, 2021, gas extraction and transportation were suspended due to a malfunction in the pipeline.

Salari added that a local Iranian company has begun repairs on the pipeline at a depth of about 60 meters in the Persian Gulf.

“In addition, a program is being developed to build an alternative pipeline to transport the field's gas,” he said.

The Salman field produces about 160 million cubic feet (about 4.53 million cubic meters) of gas per day. The extracted gas is transported via a 145-kilometer-long 30-inch pipeline to the Iranian Siri Island, and then via a 300-kilometer-long 32-inch pipeline to the Asaluyeh County of Bushehr Province.

The Salman oil field is a joint oil field between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, is located 144 km south of Lavan Island. The Salman field has 44 oil wells and 10 water pressure wells. This field contains 4.5 billion barrels of oil, of which about 1.6 billion barrels can be extracted. So far, 1.1 billion barrels have been extracted. Iran extracts 60,000 barrels of oil per day from the field.
