BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. The first part of the pipeline for the transportation of oil products from the Bandar Abbas County of Hormozgan Province to the Rafsanjan County of Kerman Province will be launched in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), an official of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company Ali Khanipour told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

According to him, the 470-kilometer, 26-inch oil pipeline consists of three parts and is being built to transport oil products from southern Iran to central Iran. Currently, there is a total of 55 percent physical progress in the construction of the pipeline.

Khanipour added that the construction of the pipeline is expected to be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023). However, due to the acceleration of construction work, it is expected to be completed 4-6 months earlier.

The official also pointed out that the pipeline will allow the transport of 300,000 barrels of oil products (gasoline, diesel, oil and etc.) per day. The cost of the pipeline is about 66 million euros.

“With the full launch of the pipeline, 50 percent of gasoline produced in the south of the country will be transported from the Bandar Abbas County to the center of the country,” he said.

At present, Iran's Persian Gulf Star Oil Company and Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company supply the bulk of Iran's gasoline consumption. There is an old pipeline between Bandar Abbas and Rafsanjan counties for the transportation of oil products from the south to the center of Iran.

Due to this pipeline is old, it is impossible to use it to the maximum. The mentioned companies’ oil products are currently transported by trucks to the center and north of the country.
