BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. Iran's Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) will begin to develop the second phase of the Tang-e-Bijar gas field in the Ilam Province (western Iran) starting from September 23, 2022, CEO of the company Abdolali Ali Asghari said, Trend reports citing the company's website.
He made the remark during a meeting with the Governor of Ilam Province Hassan Bahramnia.
Ali Asghari said that this will allow to solve the fuel shortage which Ilam Petrochemical Company is currently facing.
During the meeting, Bahramnia noted that two petrochemical companies (Ilam Petrochemical Company and Arghavan Gostar Ilam Petrochemical Company) subordinated to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company operate in Iran's Ilam Province.
The governor added that the two petrochemical companies play an important role in the province's economy. However, the development expectations of these petrochemical companies did not come true.
“With the financial support of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, the production of these companies will increase,” Bahramnia pointed out.
The governor also pointed out that 4,000 people will be provided with jobs by creating a polypropylene park in the Ilam Province. It is estimated that 92 companies will operate in the park at the first phase.
“Although there are rich oil and gas reserves in Ilam Province, unemployment is one of the province's serious problems. With the support of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, the unemployment rate in the province will decrease, and economic development will be recorded,” he said.
Iran's Tang-e-Bijar gas field is located 70 km southwest of Ilam city. The field can produce 7 million cubic meters of gas and 7,000 barrels of gas condensate per day.
