BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. Iran's Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company has increased its sulfur production by 11,000 tons a year with the commissioning of an acid gas condensing unit, Managing Director of Yahya Feyzi said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The director said that with the commissioning of the mentioned unit, the volume of sulfur dioxide released into the environment decreased by 22,000 tons per year, catalyst consumption - by 110 tons per year, and fuel consumption - by 14 million tons per year.

Feyzi added that the unit will allow increase the company's revenues and savings by about 1.45 trillion rials (about $34.5 million) a year.

“The commissioning of the unit will also allow to produce 200,000 tons of processed carbon dioxide per year. The product is used in the manufacturing of dry ice, sodium bicarbonate and other products.

The official stressed that the mentioned unit was built and put into operation within 3 years.

Iran's Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refining Company operates under the East Oil and Gas Production Company.
