Iran to increase power production capacity

TEHRAN, Iran, November 16. Iran is predicted to increase its power production capacity by 7,000 megawatts in the next Iranian year (starting March 21, 2023), said Iran Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Mehrabian has underlined a drafted plan for power supply in the summer that includes 140 projects such as increasing power plants' production capacity that requires distribution infrastructures.

Renovation of the country’s power plants started in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) and currently 98 percent of power plants are ready for production, he noted.

The official has pointed out the possible increase in gas consumption in households in winter and the necessity for energy management to avoid gas cuts in power plants.

According to the minister, power consumption reduced by 1500 megawatts in households and the administrative sector has reduced consumption by 650 megawatts.
