BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 24. Approximately 117 million cubic feet (about 3.13 million cubic meters) of flare gas daily are currently collected from two oil fields under the control of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), the CEO of NISOC Alireza Daneshi said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

“Thus, 17 million cubic feet (about 481,000 cubic meters) of flare gas daily are collected from Iran's Nargesi oil field,” Daneshi said.

Iran's Nargesi oil field is located 70 km northeast of the Bushehr port, near the Rudak and Sulabdar fields. The approximate length of field is 24 km and width - 4 km. An average of 15,000 barrels of crude oil is reportedly produced from this field.

According to the CEO, in addition, 100 million cubic feet (about 2.83 million cubic meters) of flare gas daily are collected from the Gachsaran oil field.

Iran's Gachsaran oil field is considered the second largest oil field after the Ahvaz oil field. The field contains a total of 52 billion barrels of crude oil, of which 23 billion barrels can be extracted. About 480,000 barrels of crude oil are produced from this field per day.

Daneshi also pointed out that whereas, previously, about 329 million cubic feet (about 9.3 million cubic meters) of flare gas were burned in the territory of the NISOC.

On March 3, 2022, Iran's Persian Gulf Bid-Boland Gas Refining Company has signed 8 contracts worth 470 million euros with 14 Iranian companies to collect flare gas from oil fields in the east part of the Karun River in south-western Iran.

In total, about 400 million cubic feet (about 11.3 million cubic meters) of light gas per day will be delivered to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as a result of contracts for the collection and refining of flare gas.

The National Iranian South Oil Company, a subordinate of the National Iranian Oil Company, operates 45 large and small hydrocarbon deposits in an area of 400,000 square kilometers from Iran's Bushehr Province to the north of Khuzestan Province.

The company extracts about 80 percent of Iran's crude oil and 16 percent of its gas. The company reportedly extracts about 3 million barrels of oil per day.
