BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. On average, 118 million liters of gasoline daily are consumed in Iran for the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Ali Akbar Nejad Ali told reporters on January 17, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

He noted that gasoline consumption in Iran has been decreasing every winter, while in the current Iranian year, the country’s gasoline consumption has increased significantly for an unknown reason.

Nejad Ali added that 23.5 million cubic meters of CNG gas is consumed in the country instead of gasoline. If this volume of CNG gas was not consumed, more than 130 million liters of gasoline would be consumed. This could create a shortage of gasoline in the country.

“Of course, due to the cold weather in recent days, the activity of a number of CNG filling stations has been suspended. This has increased gasoline consumption by 7 million liters per day,” he said.

Iran currently produces 105 million liters of gasoline (75 million liters in accordance with Euro 4 standard) and 110 million liters of diesel (54 million liters in accordance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards) per day in 10 oil refineries.
