BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. Iran plans to resume production from several wells in the 13th phase (SPD13A) of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field by the end of the current Iranian year (March 19, 2024), CEO of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), Mohammad Hossein Motajalli said, Trend reports.
“At the initial stage, it is planned to produce 7 million cubic meters of gas per day from these wells of the 13th phase,” he added.
According to Motajalli, production from 8 wells was suspended due to a vessel hitting the jacket and the jacket damaging in the 13th phase in previous years.
Meanwhile, the operations on the resuming of production from several remaining wells will be carried out over next Iranian year (March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025, the CEO noted.
Motajalli also said that since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023), excavation, repair and other operations have been started in the mentioned wells of the 13th phase.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
Reportedly, Iran produces an average of 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from the South Pars gas field.
