BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 13. The gas output from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of fields in the Caspian Sea's Azerbaijani sector amounted to 212 billion cubic meters (bcm) since the commissioning of the field as of September 1, 2023, Trend reports.
According to Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry, in the reporting period nearly 200.3 bcm of gas were produced from the Shah Deniz field.
Meanwhile, exports of gas from the Shah Deniz field equaled 141.5 bcm.
Azerbaijan produced 20.3 million tons of oil (including condensate) from January through August 2023.
ACG accounted for 12.1 million tons, Shah Deniz 2.9 million tons, and 90,000 tons of oil were extracted from the Absheron field. Oil production by the State Oil Company amounted to 5.2 million tons.
During the reporting period, exports accounted for 17 million tons of oil (including condensate), 15 million tons of which were exported by consortia and two million tons by SOCAR.
ACG, located approximately 100 km east of Baku, is the largest block of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
Shah Deniz gas field is the largest natural gas field in Azerbaijan. It is situated in the South Caspian Sea, off the coast of Azerbaijan, approximately 70 kilometers southeast of Baku, at a depth of 600 meters. It's considered to be a founding link for the Southern Gas Corridor, aiming to bring additional and alternative natural gas volumes to EU member countries.
