BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) is working to boost its gas production from three fields: Homa, Varavi and Tabnak, Executive Director of Iran’s Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), Mehdi Heydari said, Trend reports.

According to Heydari, total output from these fields would increase by 55 million cubic meters per day, with an investment of 281 million euros.

According to the director, a $3 million gas compressor plant is being erected in the Varavi gas field. The station would be operational over the next several months, increasing the field's output by 7 million cubic meters per day.

He also indicated that another gas compressor station with a budget of $204 million was being developed in the Homa gas field. This station would boost the field's output by 12 million cubic meters per day.

In addition, he stated that a 74 million euro gas separator center was being built in the Tabnak gas field. This center would raise the field's output by 36 million cubic meters per day.

Heydari did not specify when the projects in the Homa and Tabnak gas fields would be completed.

Iran is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of natural gas, with vast reserves and ongoing exploration and development activities. Three of its gas fields, located in the southern province of Fars, are Homa, Varavi and Tabnak. These fields were discovered between 1999 and 2000 and have been producing gas and gas condensate for domestic and international markets.

The Tabnak gas field is the largest of the three, with an estimated reserve of 938 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 935 billion cubic meters are recoverable. The field produces about 39.4 million cubic meters of gas per day, which is used for power generation, petrochemicals and other industries.

The Varavi gas field has a reserve of 92 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 60 billion cubic meters are extractable. The field’s daily production is around 7 million cubic meters of gas, which is mainly supplied to the nearby city of Shiraz and its industrial zones.

The Homa gas field has a reserve of 196 billion cubic meters of gas and 82 million barrels of gas condensate. The field’s daily output is about 14.2 million cubic meters of gas and 6,000 barrels of gas condensate, which are delivered to the national gas network.

Iran is currently investing in expanding and enhancing the production capacity of these fields, as part of its plan to increase its share in the global gas market.
