UAE's Dragon Oil to start drilling new wells at Turkmenistan's field

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 7. Dragon Oil, owned by the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), will start drilling wells at Block 19 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea this year, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, told the Turkmen media, Trend reports.

According to him, the company's specialists have successfully completed seismic exploration at this field and are now moving on to geological exploration.

At the same time, he also mentioned that the company had studied the technical characteristics of the Turkmennebit State Concern.

The company's Chief Executive Officer expressed hope for a new chapter of exploration and production at Block 19, stressing that Dragon Oil and Turkmennebit State Concern have productive plans for cooperation.

Meanwhile, in January of this year, the Turkmennebit State Concern and Dragon Oil signed a Memorandum of Understanding, according to which the Dubai oil company will begin developing three promising fields nearby in Turkmenistan.

Dragon Oil has been carrying out oil and gas cooperation with Turkmenistan on the basis of a Production Sharing Agreement since 2000, and its main activity is the extraction of hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea, in particular in the Cheleken contract zone.
