STAR Refinery’s heavy vacuum gas oil output skyrockets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. In January 2024, the STAR oil refinery, owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, witnessed a substantial surge in heavy vacuum gas oil production, reaching 31,090 tons compared to 4,648 tons produced in the same month in 2023, Trend reports.

According to Türkiye’s Energy Regulatory Authority (EPDK), this signifies an impressive increase in heavy vacuum gas oil production at the refinery by almost 6.7 times year-on-year.

Projected to reach a capacity of 13 million tons in 2024, the STAR refinery utilizes crude oil from the countries of the Black Sea region, Africa, and various other nations for the production of petrochemical products.

Operational since October 2018, the STAR refinery boasts an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons and can process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
