Yesterday, Azeri Light oil production at Chirag oilfield has been suspended for some technical reasons. Trend reports with reference to BP, ACG project operator, at 330PM local time, on July 14, the platform power supply was cut following the sys6em signal.
The platform is designed so that all operations are cancelled and facility becomes safe.
В"Despite our knowledge of the platform full safety, it was decided to temporarily dismiss some part of non-related personnelВ", said BP Azerbaijan officials. Thus, 68 out of 123 people have been sent home.
В"We immediately started investigating the accidentВ", officials said.
Further, they said the accident had not affected oil production at central and West Azeri and operation of Sangachal terminal.
The platform operations suspension did not result in any oil spills or leaks or any other ecological accidents. The platform operation is expected to be resumed
