The current depth of the fourth appraisal well - SDX-04 on Shah Deniz gas field is 6,560 meters. The project depth of the well is approximately 7,000m, Trend reports.
Drilling will be continued after the achievement of the point at 7,000 meters to explore the deep gas layers. The drilling work is carried with the help of Istiglal semi-submersible rig.
Drilling is expected to complete by December. During the drilling Caspian Drilling Company (CDC) faced with geological difficulties. The drilling is progress in accordance with schedule. The sources note that the geological difficulties do not have strong impact on the process of drilling.
Earlier appraisal well SDX-04, was spudded by the Istiglal semi-submersible drilling rig in the south-western part of the field under Phase 1.
The parties to the Shah Deniz Production Sharing Agreement are: BP (operator 25.5%), Statoil (25.5%), the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (Socar - 10%), LUKoil (10%), NICO (10%), Total (10%), and TPAO (9%).
