Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend V.Sharifov / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) announced on 18 May a record volume of gas transfers to the government.
SOCAR has for the first time passed the level of 14mln cu.m of fuel per day, which makes up over 5.11 bln cu.m of natural gas per year.
In May 2006| SOCAR handed 9.3mln cu.m of gas per day to the government, which comprises 3.394bln cu.m per year. SOCAR therefore increased the gas handing to the government by over 1.7 times, roughly 50%, as compared to May 2006.
Measures to increase gas production were carried out under the SOCAR Gas Program. The Azerbaijani president instructed the companies to increase gas transfers by 2008 to 8bln cu.m of fuel per year.
