Total bank deposits in Kazakhstan up, legal entities's deposits down

Bank deposits in Kazakhstan in 2018 increased by 362.4 billion tenge (2.2 percent) compared to 2017 and reached 17 trillion tenge, Trend reports via Ranking.kz.

In particular, the volume of bank deposits in December 2018 increased by 87.2 billion tenge (0.5 percent) compared to November.

The three leading banks in terms of deposits are ForteBank (97.5 billion tenge or 10.1 percent up to 1.1 trillion tenge), Kaspi Bank (87.9 billion tenge or 7.8 percent up to 1.2 trillion tenge) and Eurasian Bank (81.4 billion tenge or 12.2 percent up to 747 billion tenge).

It should be noted that despite the overall growth of the deposit portfolio of second-tier banks of Kazakhstan, deposits of legal entities in December 2018 decreased by 228.3 billion tenge to 7.1 trillion tenge, which accounted for 48.5 percent of the total bank deposits against 50.1 percent in November 2018.

ForteBank (69.5 billion tenge up in December to 539.1 billion tenge), Eurasian Bank (68.2 billion tenge up to 349 billion tenge) and Citibank (51.2 billion tenge up to 538.7 billion tenge) are the leaders in terms of growth of deposits of legal entities.
