Kazakhstan expands gold reserves

The gold reserves of Kazakhstan have amounted to 55.6 percent in the structure of foreign-exchange reserves, Trend reports citing LS news agency.

“As at May 1, 2019, the volume of gold amounted to 361.7 tons. Compared to the beginning of the year when the volume equaled to 345 tons, the volume has increased by 4.8 percent Thus, the percentage of Kazakhstan’s gold reserves has amounted to 55.6 percent of the foreign exchange reserves of the country,” the report said.

Today, Kazakhstan occupies 14th place worldwide by the volume of gold reserves (excluding the International Monetary Fund).

First three places by the volume of gold reserves account for USA (8,100 tons), Germany (3,300 tons) and Italy (2,400 tons).

Russia is holding the fifth place with the volume of reserves equaling to 2,100 tons and China is sixth on the list (1,900 tons).
